What can be recycled?

At ECD we use the “Three R’s” when deciding how to recycle a product;

Reuse:

If possible, we always like to make sure that a devices lifespan is increased by simply getting it back into circulation. This is our preferred recycling option and results in absolutely zero waste.

Refurbish:

We routinely receive devices that are damaged to the point that your typical end user would not be able to fix. Our engineers can diagnose and resolve most problems in a timely manner, allowing us to refurbish the equipment and then reuse it; resulting in little to no waste.

Recycle:

Sometimes devices are just not refurbishable and we need to go into a salvaging mindset. We strip the item of all recyclable materials and break the device down. This is an absolute last resort but it does result in less damage to the environment than simply throwing the device away.

ECD Corporate Mobile Recycling’s Reuse, Refurbish and Recycle policy fully supports eradicating E-waste. We lengthen the average life cycle of mobile phones and IT equipment by recovering and reusing as much as possible; ensuring the UK Governments 75% reuse policy is exceeded. If they cannot be reused or refurbished, devices or components contained within will be reused or broken into their raw materials for reuse. Working mobile phones and IT equipment can be used by developing nations, providing their populations with affordable technology.

Reusing has several benefits that go beyond environmental:

  • There is a lower demand for new products and materials.
  • Technology reaches out to larger societies due to lower affordable prices.
  • Waste is not sent to landfills.

Refurbishing is something organisations are utilising more and more as its one of the most effective recycling solutions, as it avoids the creation of waste in the first place. For example the majority of new smartphones and tablets have large glass screens which are easily scratched and imperfections can develop over a short period of time which can reduce the visibility and functionality of the device. Glass being a fragile material is extremely susceptible to cracks and damage, why replace a perfectly functioning device for a new one when only glass can be replaced by professional companies.

Our recycling process

Our straightforward and simple solutions make recycling your redundant equipment a quick and efficient process. We just ask you to put your disused electronic equipment aside and we do the rest. This includes FREE collections from multiple locations if required, certified high security data erasures,pricing and payment.

As soon as your equipment arrives at our processing facility it enters our custom built tracking systems and is allocated a unique ID which stays with the device throughout its duration in our facility. Each customer is given a login to our system which allows real-time monitoring on the current status of your equipment. The moment your equipment is securely wiped of all its data certified documents are instantly made available within your online account. Once all your equipment has been processed an email is sent containing a link to all your certified documents along with a valuation.

If we are unable to cleanse the data from your equipment we will provide you with a certificate of destruction, which confirms that your device has been fully destroyed and the data cannot be recovered.
